ASSISTANT DEAN
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
The
School of Business at Christopher Newport University invites applications to
fill the position of Assistant Dean of the School of Business. This is a newly-created, non-tenure-eligible,
professional faculty position. The
successful candidate will be responsible for managing all student related
issues and activities in the business school and will bring to the position
extensive experience in developing, implementing, and managing programs that
focus on the personal and professional development of undergraduate
students. The incumbent will report to
the Dean of the School of Business and will be responsible for advising and
managing pre-registration, admission to the School of Business, the internship
program, and assessment activities. The
successful candidate will have a proactive management style and a commitment to
enhancing the quality of the School’s educational programs. Anticipated starting date is August 10, 2005.
A
master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration,
or a related field is required as well as an extensive record of successful
performance in increasingly responsible roles in student services. In addition to demonstrated management skills,
candidates are also expected to have strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated
computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software), analytical
skills, and strong writing and speaking skills, and either have or be able to
quickly acquire both an understanding of the University’s general education
requirements and the School’s degree requirements.
