- Review what you have done in each paid or volunteer/internship job you have held.
- Describe your experience in clear terms and relate it to the job vacancy when you can.
- Do not assume the employer will know what you have done unless you clearly write it.
- If you are applying for a trade or technical position, be sure to describe the tools and equipment you have used and include any training and licenses you may hold.
- Be sure to note in the appropriate space if you have a driver’s license, as many jobs require it.
- If the application does not provide you enough space, use supplemental sheets. Too often applicants make the mistake of leaving key information out because of a lack of space.
- Fully complete the application even if you provide a resume. If a resume is not required, it may be discarded and only the application used.
- It is a good idea, if you have time before the application deadline, to complete a draft application and have someone who knows you review it for any spelling or content errors.
- Remember, the application represents you!
- Make sure the application is neat and easy to read.
- Print, type or complete the application on computer.
- Sign the application.
- Remember, by signing the application you are verifying that the information is correct.
- If the application contains incorrect information and you get the job, your employment could be terminated for submitting a falsified application.
Do your very best to communicate what you have to offer for the position and we wish you the very best with your job search.
