SENIOR ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT FOR ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE

 

Christopher Newport University invites applications for the position of Senior Associate Vice President for Administration and Finance.    The Senior Associate Vice President reports to the Executive Vice President and is responsible for the leadership and management of the finance and administrative functions of the University.  This position assumes departmental responsibilities for the Business Office, Purchasing, Grounds, and Plant Operations.  The Senior Associate Vice President works closely with the Executive Vice President in both long-range planning and daily administration. 

The successful candidate will have a proven record in leadership roles, will think strategically with a broad institutional perspective, will have demonstrated experience in the management of complex finance and administrative functions; will be a creative team builder who will work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students; will recognize and support organizational effectiveness in terms of goal setting, budget planning, and evaluation, will have a strong passion and appreciation for the vision and values of the University and will have demonstrated skills in articulating that passion clearly and contributing to the positive working environment of the University.  Exceptional people skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to function calmly in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment are priorities.  The successful candidate must embrace a high level of personal and professional integrity as well as a passion for providing exceptional service at all levels.  A master’s degree in a relevant field or a bachelor’s degree and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree is required. 

CNU is a selective, residential public university of 4,800 students located in the heart of the Virginia Tidewater and within a short distance of both Colonial Williamsburg and the ocean resort of Virginia Beach.  Dedicated to liberal learning and a community of honor, CNU offers baccalaureate programs through the College of Liberal Arts and Science and Luter School of Business.  The Fall 2007 freshman class of more than 1,200 students was selected from over 7,000 applicants and has earned an average SAT of about 1171.  Today, 3,000 students live on campus, including 95 percent of all freshmen and sophomores.  CNU is in the late stages of completing $500 million in new construction.  These include a $30 million student center, the addition of athletic facilities, residence halls, shops, and retail establishments; renovations of academic buildings, the I.M.
